At least 15 police recruits were on Tuesday rushed to Anaka General Hospital in Nwoya district for treatment after getting involved in a road crash at Pakwach Junction along the Karuma-Pakwach highway in Nwoya district.
It’s alleged that the police Truck Reg. No. UP 00296 blue in colour developed a mechanical problem at the junction causing the vehicle to overturned.
According to police report, the lorry was transporting 49 police recruits and one trainer who were returning to Ikafe police training school in Yumbe district from Manafwa district where they were on elections deployment.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West regional police spokesperson confirmed the report saying preliminary investigation indicate that the crash was as a result of mechanical problem.
The vehicle has been conveyed to Nwoya central police station pending Inspector of vehicle “IOV” inspection.
According to police crime report 2024, the country registered 25, 808 cases of road crash casualties compared to 24, 728 cases registered in 2023.
