The Resident District Commissioner, RDC of Omoro District, Okot Emmanuel, has issued a strong warning to the public following rising cases of conmen posing as officials in charge of the ongoing Uganda Police Force special recruitment exercise.
According to RDC Okot, the police are investigating several fraudsters who have been making phone calls to applicants, claiming to have the power to influence their selection as Election Special Police Constables and also saying their national Identity cards could be having problems. These individuals reportedly demand money in exchange for securing positions in the programme.
The RDC emphasized that the recruitment process is entirely free of charge, adding that no official from the Uganda Police Force or the Office of the RDC is authorized to solicit money from applicants at any stage.
The special recruitment exercise, launched by the Uganda Police Force in October, seeks to enlist 100,000 temporary police constables who will serve on a three-month contractual basis during the upcoming election period.
Successful candidates will be deployed to serve in their home districts and are expected to undergo one month of mandatory training before deployment.
