The Uganda Police Force in the North Kyoga Region has issued a comprehensive festive season security message, assuring the public of safety as Christmas and the New Year approach.

A statement made to the journalists, the North Kyoga Territorial Command emphasized that all security agencies are on heightened alert to ensure peaceful celebrations across the region, especially as the festive season coincides with the 2026 General Elections period.

Police cautioned that while the season is marked by joy, travel, and family reunions, it also comes with increased risks of crime such as theft, house break-ins, and domestic violence.

Members of the public are urged not to leave homes unattended, to inform trusted neighbours when traveling, strengthen neighbourhood watch arrangements, and report any suspicious movements to nearby police stations.

Regarding entertainment shows and social events, police reminded organizers that all public events must receive written clearance from the Regional Police Commander, while fireworks require authorization from the Inspector General of Police. Event organizers are required to coordinate security plans with District Security Committees and ensure venues meet safety standards, including clear exits, firefighting equipment, first aid services, adequate lighting, and strict observance of venue capacity limits. Police also warned that advertising artistes who do not appear at events is a criminal offence punishable by law.
