President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has outlined wealth creation, infrastructure improvement, and a crackdown on corruption as key priorities for his next term.
Speaking during a victory celebration in Lango, the President thanked Ugandans for maintaining unity and for what he called “voting wisely,” emphasizing that the next phase of governance will focus on transforming household incomes.
The President singled out the Parish Development Model (PDM) as the top priority, pledging that all households will benefit from the program within the next five years.
He directed local leaders to track implementation at the parish level to ensure no homestead is left behind.
Museveni illustrated the program’s impact using testimonies from beneficiaries, including a farmer from Lira District who reportedly turned a PDM allocation of one million shillings into a profitable livestock venture, and another from Karamoja who has steadily increased agricultural earnings.
While encouraging beneficiaries to make independent investment choices under PDM, Museveni announced plans for an additional government-led intervention to distribute free seedlings for coffee and fruit farming.
He said this would run alongside existing programs to boost agricultural productivity.
