Police in Gulu City are investigating a serious case of aggravated robbery and attempted murder following a violent attack at LT Energy Petrol Station in Bardege-Layibi Division.

The victim has been identified as Ronald Obedi, a security guard from Samurai Security Protective Services Uganda Ltd.

The gunmen shot Obedi at about 11p.m. on Tuesday while on duty at the LT Energy Pump fuel Station in Laliya Trading Centre.

Reports indicate that the suspects first asked for fuel prices but did not refuel. They instead moved into the compound, where two dismounted while one remained on the motorcycle.

One suspect reportedly moved behind the petrol station, drew a firearm hidden in his jacket, and shot the security guard. The attackers then robbed him of his firearm.

The suspects continued firing randomly, causing panic. During the shooting, a stray bullet injured an unidentified person who was later rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

The injured security guard was first taken to St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor, where he is receiving medical care.

The Aswa West Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Ongom David Mudong confirmed the report and said authorities have since opened a case file under CRB 114/2026 and launched investigations, including reviewing CCTV footage, identifying the suspects, recovering the stolen firearm, and tracing the motorcycle used in the attack.
