Police in Gulu district are investigating a case of gun robbery at Awach trading center in Awach Sub County, Gulu district which led to the killing of a retail shop operator.
It’s alleged that Wilfred Ojok, the deceased was gun down on Friday night at around 9:30pm while he was attending to the customers at the shop.
According to the LC3 chairperson of Awach Sub County, Akena Richard Jamisco, the attackers believed to be two men armed with a gun, stormed the shop and held several people captive under gun point before gunning down Ojok from inside the shop.
Jennifer Nyangoma, the Gulu district police commander confirmed the report saying investigation in to the matter have commenced and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the killing.
The killing comes amid a growing wave of gun robbery in Gulu and its surrounding districts. Only in one week, Gulu city registered five cases of gun robbery and shooting.
The latest case involved a violent attack at LT Energy Petrol Station in Laliya Trading Centre that left two people dead and one injured.
