Police in Adjumani District are holding 13 suspected motorcycle thieves during an intelligence led operation conducted on Tuesday.
The joint led operation targeted suspected stolen motorcycles, motorcycles with altered registration number plates, and individuals believed to be involved in cross-border criminal activities.
During the operation, security officers impounded 14 motorcycles, according to Collins Asea, the Police Spokesperson for the North West Nile Region.
Asea explained that the operation was initiated in response to security concerns raised by members of the community, whose information significantly contributed to its success. He noted that the suspects will be screened and the motorcycles verified to establish the rightful owners.
According to the Police Annual Crime Report, a total of 5,752 cases of motorcycle theft were reported to police in 2025, compared to 6,311 cases in 2024, representing a decrease of 8.8 percent.
