Kitgum Magistrate Denies Bail to Musician Bosmic

Mega Fm: The Kitgum Chief Magistrate’s Court, Robert Ekirita on Monday denied bail to popular musician and politician Bosmic Joyce Otim, who is facing charges of causing grievous harm.

Ekirita remanded Bosmic to Kitgum Government Prison until July 21, 2026, when the hearing of his case will commence.

The bail application was denied after Otim failed to present an introductory letter from the Local Council One chairperson of his place of residence, as required to prove a clear and verifiable address.

According to the prosecution, the offence occurred on May 3, 2026, at Corner Mission in Kitgum Municipality.

It’s alleged that Otim and others still at large caused grievous harm to Alfred Joe Okello, also known as KD Kristo Hammer, a social media blogger.

During the bail hearing, Otim, through his lawyer presented three sureties to court. However, the application hit a snag over residency documentation of Bosmic.

Otim told the court that he has two places of residence: Lawiyadul in Gulu City and Corner Mission Cell in Kitgum Municipality but instead he presented an introductory letter from the LC1 Chairperson of Bajere East Village, which did not correspond with either of the addresses he mentioned.

In his ruling, Magistrate Ekirita upheld the prosecution’s objection and denied bail, citing the discrepancy in residency documents as the key reason.
