The Acholi Zone has successfully defended its overall title at the 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association-USSSA, Ball Games II National Mind Games and Athletic Championships, capping off another outstanding performance in Gulu City.
According to the official overall rankings, Acholi accumulated a total 320 points from both the boys and girls categories to retain the national crown.
Mpigi Zone finished second with 193 points, while Bukedi Zone came third with 171 points.
In the boys’ category, Acholi dominated the competition, finishing first with 180 points.
In the girls’ category, the zone finished second with 140 points, behind Mpigi, which topped the standings with 157 points.
The combined performances saw Acholi Zone secure the highest overall total points of 320 and successfully defend the championship they last won in 2025.
Other zones that featured prominently include Bunyoro in fourth overall with 128 points, Wakiso fifth with 111 points, Lango sixth with 109 points, and Teso seventh with 105 points among other regions.
