As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, MTN Uganda has extended its nationwide Y’ello Storm campaign to Northern Uganda, combining customer engagement with support to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.

MTN on Thursday, handed over mattresses and mosquito nets to support patients in the maternity and casualty wards of the hospital, which serves as a major referral centre for communities across the Acholi sub-region and neighbouring areas.

Speaking during the handover, MTN Northern Uganda Regional Business Manager Philip Odoi said the Y’ello Storm campaign is intended to bring the company closer to its customers while creating a positive impact in communities adding that the campaign is not only about showcasing MTN products and services but also understanding the needs of communities and supporting institutions that provide critical services.

Gulu Regional Referral Hospital handles thousands of expectant mothers annually and conducts more than 500 deliveries every month, in addition to attending to emergency cases, including victims of road traffic accidents.

The Principal Assistant Secretary at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, Walter Uryek-Wun, welcomed the donation, saying it will help improve the environment and experience of patients receiving care at the facility. MTN is also set to commission a new network site at Layibi 3 to strengthen connectivity in the area, before continuing customer engagements in other parts of the region with a broader ambition to ensure Ugandans benefit from digital services, financial inclusion and opportunities created by technology.
