The Uganda People’s Defence Forces, UPDF has committed UGX 20 million towards the construction of a new toilet facility at St Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu City, following the school’s support in hosting the 18th Edition of the 2026 Inter-Forces Games and Target Shooting Championship that was hosted in Gulu City by the UPDF 4 Infantry Division.
The announcement was made on Friday by Major General Richard Karemire, Chairman of the Inter-Forces Games Organising Committee, during the closing ceremony of the championship that was held at Layibi College playground
Maj. Gen. Karemire said the UGX 20 million shillings has already been allocated to the UPDF Engineering Brigade, which is expected to begin construction works at the school as soon as possible.
Layibi College hosted most of the sporting activities during the games, including football, volleyball, netball, taekwondo, athletics, darts and handball.
The school also provided accommodation for participants during their stay in Gulu.
Major General Karemire thanked the administration of St Joseph’s College Layibi for the hospitality extended to the forces and participants throughout the competition. He also said the organising committee will clear all the bills incurred during their stay at the school.
