Rev. Fr. James Okello, the Parish Priest of the St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Paicho sub county, Gulu district, has applauded President Museveni for cracking the whip on the recent corruption tendencies in the country.
Recently, the President confirmed to having received reports and evidence of corruption in parliament and at ministries, promising to deal with those implicated.
To show his determination, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit led to the arrest of five Members of Parliament currently remanded at Luzira prison.
They include Yusuf Mutembuli MP for Bunyole East Constituency in Butaleja District, Resident of Bweyogerere Kirinya in Kira Municipality Wakiso District, Paul Akamba MP for Busiki Constituency in Namutumba District resident of Kyanja Balagade Rise Nakawa Division and Cissy Namujju Dionizia Lwengo District Woman MP resident of Nambu Village, Kigo Wakiso District.
The MPs are also charged with Leonard Kavundira, the ministry of Trade’s main cooperative officer.
Others sent on remand include former Mulago National Referral Hospital Executive Director, Dr. Byarugaba Baterana Bonaventura, and six others.
While preaching to the congregation on Sunday, Fr, Okello, asked electorates not to vote such leaders back to position of leadership.
His statement comes just days after Professor Ogenga Latigo blamed the electorates for voting money instead of competent people who can represent them.
