President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has said they have evidence that will shock the nation against those who were arrested on Tuesday participating in the demonstrations and match to parliament.
In a statement issued by the Presidential Press Unit, Museveni said the reason police charged them with being ‘idle and disorderly’ was because at the time, those charging were not privy to the intelligence that had been gathered.
According to the President, some of the authors and participants of the demonstrations, were planning very bad things against the people of Uganda.
Museveni didn’t disclose those bad things promising instead that they will come out in court during trial of those arrested.
He called upon those he said are being funded by foreigners to stop and report to the Minister of State for Ethics, those who have been funding them, promising not to arrest them.
More than 50 people were remanded to Luzira prison on charges arising from their alleged involvement in Anti Corruption protests which locked the city earlier in the day.
The protestors which were split on different files and distributed before different Magistrates at Nakawa and Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Courts were charged with various offenses amidst heavy security deployment from Uganda police.
