New Nebbi Catholic Diocese Bishop Consecrated, Installed

Rev. Constantine Rupiny has been consecrated and installed as the fifth Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese.

The ceremony held at the diocesan ceremonial grounds started with a melodious procession led by a combined team of Choirs from Gulu Ecclesiastical province and hundreds of faithful including from the Anglican Church and the Muslim faith.

Shortly after reading the Pope’s message of appointment of Bishop Constantine from the Holy See in Rome, His Excellency Bianco Luigi the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda confirmed the appointment to the cheering congregation. 

Principal Consecrator and Archbishop of Gulu His Grace Raphael p’Omony Wokorach, urged the newly consecrated Bishop to shepherd the flock without fear or favour as Jesus did and further assured him of the full protection of the Holy Spirit.

The new Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese Constantine Rupiny in his message to the congregation and the government called for deliberate efforts to reduce the increasing levels of poverty and underdevelopment in the diocese and West Nile.

Born on 10 November 1974 in Parombo, Nebbi Diocese, Rev. Fr. Rupiny was ordained a priest on 28 August 2004 in Nebbi and first posted to work in Kango Catholic Parish.  He holds advanced degrees, including a Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology from Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, Poland.   

In his career, he has served as Parish Priest, Formator, Professor, Vice President of the Presbyterian Council, and Vice-Rector, among other roles.

Since September 2023, he has been the Rector of Uganda Martyrs’ National Major Seminary.
