Police in Lira City are holding a 22-year-old man on allegation of defiling a five-year-old girl from Agwentangwet B Cell in Lira City East Division.
The suspect Brian Odyek, a resident of the same area was arrested on Tuesday morning from his resident after the victim reporting him to her parents.
According to police report, the suspect Odyek lured the five-year-old girl from their home and dragged her into a nearby bush on Monday evening and forcefully defiled her.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the report saying Odyek has been charged with aggravated defilement.
According to Okema, Odyek is detained at Lira City East police station pending to be presented before the court.
According to the 2024 police annual crime report, a total of 12,312 cases of Defilement were reported to Police in 2024, compared to 12,771 cases.
