In a strong show of commitment to grassroots development, Ker Kwaro Acholi, the Acholi cultural institution on Tuesday fulfilled its financial pledges, totaling to UGX 10.650 million, of supporting schools, religious institutions, and traditional leadership in the Acholi sub-region.
The funds were handed over in a formal event led by the Deputy Prime Minister of KKA, Martin Okumu, who said the support is aimed at strengthening cultural identity, education, and faith-based community structures.
Among the key beneficiaries was Alero Chiefdom, which received 3 million shillings to purchase materials for fencing the chiefdom — a contribution expected to provide security to the chiefdom and mark the boundaries of the chiefdom.
Koch Ongako Primary School also received substantial support, following its outstanding performance in cultural preservation.
The school was awarded 2.650 million shillings in appreciation of its flawless rendition of the Acholi anthem, as recognized by His Royal Highness, the Paramount Chief of Acholi, David Onen Achana II.
In Nwoya district, St. Andrew Besette Holy Cross Catholic Church in Koch Goma received 3 million shillings.
The funds, handed over to Parish Priest Apire Berry, will go towards constructing a house for the head catechist, a critical need for the parishes.
