A man hunt has been launched to arrest a suspect on allegations of killing his wife during a domestic misunderstanding in Barajwa village, Adilang sub county, Agago district on Thursday.
The suspect has been identified as Alex Ojera and the victim is Jenet Atuku, aged 48, It’s alleged that the fatal incident emanated after the two disagreed over the sale of charcoal that the two had burnt.
According to reports Ojera had wanted to sell part of the charcoal something which didn’t go well with his wife who grabbed him by his shirt and a scuffle ensued. Ojera is alleged to have boxed the wife on the neck and she collapsed unconscious.
She was later rushed to Doctor Fragale hospital Adilang for treatment where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Joe Oloya, the Acting Aswa East Police Spokesperson, confirmed the unfortunate incident saying police has launched a man hunt for the suspect.
This brings to four people killed as a result of domestic violence in East Acholi in the three months.
According to the 2024 police annual crime report, a total of 14,073 cases of domestic violence were registered across the country.
