Hundreds of Christians in Odek Catholic parish were this morning left stranded after flash floods submerged Odek Bridge cutting off Gulu-Rackoko –Moroto road in Odek Sub County, Omoro District.
The bridge which connects Pader and Omoro was submerged following last night’s heavy downpour.
Besides leaving Christians unable to attend church this morning, 200 travelers were also left stranded.
Jimmy Kakmon, the Local Council One Chairperson Te-olam village in Odek Sub County said the stranded Christians has no option to attend mass through radio.
The flooding on the bridge comes less than 48 hours after the floods submerged the road paralyzing traffic and forced authorities in Omoro to keep children in school for safety.
The Ministry of works and Transport says it has kicked off the process to begin the construction of Gulu-Rackoko Moroto road.
Gulu-Opit-Rackoko road is one of the oldest trade routes connecting Acholi Land to Karamoja Sub Region.
