The Deputy Resident City Commissioner in charge of Pece Laroo Division, Peter Banya, has urged street vendors across Gulu City to remain calm following Sunday night attack on a section of vendors along Cemetery road by street gangs commonly known as Aguu.
Suspected street gangs on Sunday morning went on rampage along Cemetery Road in Nakasero cell, torching shops and attacking traders following the death of one of their members.
According to police reports, the chaos began after a suspected gang member was stabbed along Cemetery Road by a chapati vendor.
Banya urged the vendors to remain calm and continue with their businesses and assured the vendors of security protection for their businesses both day and night.
He condemned the attack on the vendors and apologized to the residents for the fear and disruption caused by the criminal gang assuring that security will be tightened across Gulu City to curb the activities of criminal gangs.
