The Archbishop- Elect of Gulu Catholic Archdiocese, His Grace Raphael Wokorach P’Mony on Saturday afternoon received his Pallium from the pontiff during a special mass presided over by Pope Francis.
The Pallium signifies the communion between the Bishop of Rome and the Metropolitan Archbishops whom he has appointed to oversee the Church. It will allow him to be installed as the Archbishop of Gulu Catholic Archdiocese.
Before he was appointed Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese, Wokorach served as the Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese for about two years. He will return to Nebbi Catholic Diocese on July 11 and travel to Gulu to be installed as Archbishop on July 12.
Rt. Rev. Raphael p’Mony Wokorach takes over from Archbishop Emeritus John Baptist Odama who retired from serve after clocking the 75-year age limit in line with the Code of Canon Law. Archbishop Emeritus Odama was the first Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu and served for the past 25 years since his installation in 1999.
