A campaign aimed at ending violence against women dubbed “Speak! End Violence Against Women’ has been launched in Gulu City.
The campaign is being implemented by the Internal Justice Mission (IJM) in collaboration with Gulu District, Gulu City and police in memory of Dorothy Acen, a former staff of JIM, who was in June 10, 2016 murdered by her fiancé.
According to the 2023 police annual crime report, Aswa River Region registered 801 cases of domestic violence.
Jackline Ayebera, the IJM Acting County Director says the campaign is aimed at increasing access to justice, amplifying voices of survivors, increasing reporting of cases and improving services to the survivors.
