Police in Kitgum District are holding three teenagers on allegations of killing a 19-year-old man from Lalworo-Onen village in Kitgum Matidi Sub County during a scuffled over a girl.
The suspects whose names are withheld for purposes of investigation were arrested on Tuesday morning after assaulting Rackara Bonzovil to death during a fight over a girl both parties were interested in.
It’s alleged that the suspects assaulted Rackara on Sunday night at around 9pm while at a community night disco in the trading center with a blunt object causing his death.
Peter Oyesigye, the Kitgum District Police Commander, confirmed the report saying Rackara was rushed to Kitgum general hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The deceased body has been conveyed to the hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
According to the 2024 police annual crime report, a total of 1,339 cases of Murder as a result of Assault were reported across the country.
