Francis Ocaya, the man accused of killing his wife and three children and leaving another critically injured last week, has been discharged from the hospital and taken into police custody.
Ocaya, who allegedly attempted to poison himself after committing the crime, was admitted to Kitgum General Hospital for treatment.
After receiving medical attention and being deemed fit for discharge, he was transferred to police custody.
According to Joe Oloya, the Aswa East Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Ocaya is currently being held at Kitgum Central Police Station as they await guidance from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on the charges to be filed against him.
Oloya confirmed that Ocaya faces multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder, and that police have gathered sufficient evidence to prosecute him.
Ocaya, a resident of Tepwoyo West Village in Mucwini West Sub-county, Kitgum District, allegedly killed his wife and three of his children—aged between three and ten—before setting their two houses on fire.
One child survived with critical injuries.
After committing the crime, he fled but was later found unconscious inside Pachua Pakuba Anglican Church.
