A23 year old student of Kyambogo University has succumbed to injuries inflicted on him by suspected members of a notorious Gulu city street gang.
Emmanuel Okema, a second year student pursuing Bachelor of Science Management, was attacked on Wednesday evening in the areas of Wii-Aworanga Cell, Bar-dege-Layibi division, Gulu City. He was first hit on the head using a blunt object before they cut him again on the head using a machete.
Okema was discovered lying in a pool of blood by a passersby who rushed him to St Mary Hospital Lacor where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday evening.
When contacted, Kamba Amir, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner in charge of Bar-dege-Layibi Division, said he was yet to be briefed about the incident.
This now brings to 7th person to have been killed by suspected members of the Gulu criminal gang since the beginning of this year.
For the last four, Gulu City has seen a rise in crime cases being perpetrated by the criminal gangs.
