The NRM Presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni, has outlined the restoration of peace in the Karamoja as one of his government’s greatest achievements.
Speaking in Napak district as he concluded his campaign trail in the region, Museveni noted that the peace secured is a crucial step towards paving the way for development.
According to Museveni, the achievement of peace in Karamoja is a testament to his government’s commitment to ensuring the region’s stability and security.
Museveni attributed the success to the unified politics and not sectarianism, which enabled them to build up a strong national party.
He also added that they built the capacity of the national army that managed to restore the peace in the different parts of the country.
He highlighted the investments made in the region, including the tarmacking of roads, extension of electricity, improved health services, education, and water.
Museveni vowed to build on the gains made in the region with the focus on enhancing the region’s infrastructure and social services.
However, he emphasized that the peace and security now secured will attract more socio-economic development, enabling the region to support growth and progress.
The local leaders also confirmed that they have indeed secured peace in the region and are now seeing signs of development. Museveni on Thursday concluded his campaign trail in Karamoja with a stop in Napak district, before proceeding to Kapelebyong district.
