President Yoweri Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, has renewed his appeal to the Acholi community to embrace government programs aimed at creating household wealth and eradicating poverty in the sub-region.
Speaking during his second presidential campaign rally at Anaka Primary School, Nwoya District on Tuesday, President Museveni emphasized that for years, the government has consistently sent money to the sub-region to help families transition from subsistence living to prosperity.
He cited various government initiatives including Entandikwa, Emyooga, the Youth Livelihood Fund, Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), and the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS), alongside the Zonal Presidential Skilling Hubs and the Parish Development Model (PDM).
He pledged that his next government will continue allocating 100 million Shillings per parish under the PDM, urging beneficiaries to use the funds productively.
He shared testimonies of people who have successfully transformed their livelihoods through such initiatives.
While highlighting government achievements in infrastructure, such as improved roads, schools, and electricity, Museveni cautioned that these developments should not be mistaken for personal wealth.
He encouraged families to take initiative and engage in income-generating ventures.
