Police in the North West Nile region have received 40 brand-new motorcycles to strengthen the sub-county policing model.
The motorcycles were delivered on Wednesday by the Fleet Management Office in collaboration with the Police Mechanical Workshop as part of a government initiative to improve police mobility, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
Of the 40 motorcycles, Adjumani Central Police Station received 11, Yumbe Central Police Station 18, Moyo District eight, and the remaining three were allocated to Obongi District.
Collins Asea, the North West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, said the new motorcycles will enhance policing effectiveness and support sub-county operations across the region.
He added that the allocation aligns with the government’s sub-county policing policy, aimed at strengthening security at the grassroots.
The sub-county policing model was introduced in 2019 by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, under which each sub-county should have a fully operational police station staffed with 18 to 20 officers and equipped with four motorcycles, two of which are reserved for emergency response.
