Preparations are in high gear in Pader Town Council, Pader District, ahead of the fourth edition of the Acholi Cultural Festival.
The festival returns after a two year break, following the failure by the cultural institution to hold the event in 2024 and 2025 due to lack of resources and the busy political period.
This year’s festival is scheduled to run from December 12–14, 2026, with more than 5,000 people expected to participate in the festival.
Alfred Akena, the Pader District LCV Chairperson, confirmed the development to journalists saying preparations are in high gear to host the event.
The official lunched of the festival is schedule for October 12th at the cultural institution in Gulu city.
The Acholi Cultural Festival was launched in 2017 with the aim of bringing together the Acholi people to celebrate their culture and identity.
The first and second editions of the annual festival were held in the back then Gulu Municipality, while the third edition was held in Kitgum Municipality.
The festival features various activities, including exhibitions of traditional food, regalia, musical instruments, traditional dances and songs, traditional medicine, clothing, and the history of the Acholi people, among others.
