President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has advised the leaders in Greater Mukono to sensitise people to embrace government’s wealth creation programs in order to fight poverty in their households.
“Leaders, you must educate our people about wealth creation. Put more emphasis on it like the Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) which I studied in primary. Wealth is a solution to all things apart from freedom which is provided by the government,” he asserted.
The President made the remarks on during a meeting with the leaders from Greater Mukono region held at Mukono Boarding P/S playground, Mukono Central Division in Mukono district.
President Museveni also advised the people of Greater Mukono to join the money economy through the four sectors of the economy which include, commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services and ICT.
President Museveni further cautioned the populace against waiting to be employed by the government, urging that the government jobs are few and cannot solve the problem of unemployment. He instead advised them to join the private sector which has millions of jobs.
President Museveni also underscored the core role of peace in sustaining development.
“Inform Ugandans that keeping peace is important. We want Uganda to be free from wars, whoever wants to disrupt it we shall deal with him/her using an iron hand. The National Resistance Movement has an experience of over 50 years in building a strong army,” he stressed.
Amos Lugoloobi, the Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, on behalf of the leaders from the Greater Mukono, expressed deepest gratitude to the President for his exceptional leadership that has brought lasting peace, security, macro-economic stability and socio-economic transformation in Uganda.
