A man identified as Shafik Bwanika, is currently detained at Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) after he allegedly attempted to forcefully drive into Nakasero State Lodge on Tuesday afternoon.
Maj Jimmy Omara, the Public Information Officer (PIO) for Special Forces Command (SFC) confirmed Bwanika’s arrest and detention at CPS.
Omara’s response came after rumours circulated in some WhatsApp groups that a woman had been shot to death at the entrance of Nakasero State Lodge.
However, Omara in his statement only mentioned that Bwanika was with a female but did not give details on what happened to her.
According to unconfirmed information, a woman was shot twice and she succumbed to bullet wounds on the way to hospital.
Omara has described Bwanika’s acts as an attempted breach of security on one of the gates of Nakasero State Lodge by a car that wanted to forcefully gain access.
He said the car was being driven at a breakneck speed.
It is understood that police patrol which often park a stone throw at the entrance of Nakasero State Lodge pursued Bwanika up to Platinum hospital where he was arrested.
SFC and CPS have opened investigations into the matter with hope that the true reasons behind the attempted attack on the President’s residence are known.
