Police in Lamwo district on Tuesday arrested six staff from office of the Prime Minister (OPM) for theft of medical equipment meant for Palabek Kal Health Centre III.
The suspects include Juku Hassan, Ssempijja Edward, Akampa Joel, Mugoya Sam, Muhanzo Innocent and one only identified as Moses. They were arrested from Palabek Kal Health Centre III and are being held at Lamwo central Police station.
The missing medical equipment include universal Anesthesia machine, patient monitoring machine, recovery trolley, infant warmer, Distract bed and its accessories and file cabinets.
The equipment were a donation from OPM office under the Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project (DRDP) to the health facility.
Oguti Oswin Sebastian, the Lamwo Deputy Resident District Commissioner, says the equipment were detected missing after going through the delivery notes.
Palabek Kal Health Centre III serves a population of over 86,000 people including refugees and the host communities.
