A total of 615 solar-powered lamps have been donated to Anaka General Hospital plus 13 lower health facilities in Nwoya district by TotalEnergis Uganda, a French giant oil company.
50 of the solar lamps were given to Anaka General Hospital, 65 to each of the six health center threes, and 25 to each of the seven health center twos.
The solar lamps which can light for 96 hours were distributed by World Vision Uganda, which is the implementing partner.
Emmanuel Akorimo, the programme manager World Vision said they hope for improvement of service delivery at the health facilities during night.
Wilfred Adot, in charge of Panokrac Health Centre II, said the lamps are a big boost to the facility whose staff have been operating without lighting after its solar system broke down a year ago.
Emmanuel Orac, the L.C Chairperson Nwoya district said the solar lamps will help reduce theft at health facilities in the night.
TotalEnergies in 2023 gave a similar donation of 884 solar lamps to learners and schools in Nwoya district.
