Two suspects accused of murdering Gulu University student John Bosco Ngire have been committed to the High Court by the Gulu Magistrate’s Court for trial.
The suspects, Gerald Omara, alias Torach, 18, a student, and Ambrose Rom, alias Genge, 18, a mechanic, appeared before Grade One Magistrate Miriam Amoro on Tuesday afternoon for the mention of their case.
They face two counts of murder and robbery.
According to the chargesheet filed at Gulu Central Police Station, the suspects allegedly committed the offences on October 10, 2026, at Agwee Cell along Tegot Road in Laroo-Pece Division, Gulu City.
The charge sheet alleges that the suspects, together with other individuals who are still at large and while armed with a hammer, robbed Ngire of a black Samsung mobile phone valued at 700,000 Shillings and a pair of black jungle boots worth 100,000 Shillings, bringing the total value of the stolen items to 800,000 Shillings.
The suspects did not take a plea because the magistrate’s court lacks jurisdiction to try capital offences.
Magistrate Amoro subsequently committed them to the High Court for trial. The prosecution was absent when the case came up for mention on Tuesday.
