Uganda’s basketball community is once again in mourning following the death of JKL Dolphins player Jonathan Oketch, who passed away on Monday night.
Oketch succumbed to injuries he sustained during a road crash last week.
Oketch’s death comes just weeks after the passing of St Noa Girls Secondary School basketball player Maxine Modesta Anyango, deepening grief within the national basketball fraternity.
Oketch previously played for Ndejje Angels basketball club before joining the JKL Dolphins.
The Uganda basketball fraternity continues to mourn two young lives lost within a short span, with growing calls for reflection on player safety, health response systems, and overall welfare in sports.
