UPDF Urges Rural Applicants to Move to Urban Areas for Online Recruitment Access

The Pass Out Ceremony

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has urged prospective recruits in remote parts of the country to temporarily relocate to urban centres with better internet and network coverage to complete the online application process for the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise.

The army plans to recruit over 9,600 personnel countrywide to bolster its human resource base across departments, including infantry, medical, engineering, and air force.

However, the exercise has encountered connectivity challenges, especially in sub-regions such as Bukedi, Elgon, and Karamoja, where applicants have reported persistent internet outages and weak network signals, hampering their ability to submit documents through the official online portal.

Major Isaac Oware, Public Relations Officer of the UPDF 3rd Division, acknowledged the connectivity issues and advised affected applicants to seek areas with reliable access.

Major Oware stressed the importance of submitting applications promptly, noting that shortlisted candidates will proceed to physical and medical screenings at designated recruitment centers nationwide.
