A watchman attached to St. Phillip’s Health Centre II in Bar-Dege-Layibi City Division in Gulu City who allegedly defiled a 15-year-old female patient has tested positive for HIV.

Newton Acaye aged 38 was found to be living with HIV after he was subjected to a medical test on Police Form 24A. He reportedly sexually assaulted the underage girl in the early hours of Saturday morning from a sentry box located within the health centre.

The victim told police that the suspect forcefully dragged her from the patient’s ward before raping her on two occasions that fateful night.

He reportedly threatened to kill the minor with a bow and arrow if she rejects sexual advances.

After molesting the girl, he chased her away from the facility.

The sexual assault victim later reported the matter to police at Kirombe Police Post, resulting into the arrest of the private security guard. He has been charged with aggravated defilement under CRB Number 255/2024.

Aggravated defilement is a capital offence which can attract a death penalty on conviction. It contravenes section129 (3) (4) (c) of the Penal Code Act.
