At least 80 Gulu City technical staff and political leaders are face with arrest over the alleged mismanagement and diversion of the cattle restocking funds.
They include 58 Local Council One chairpersons, 20 technical staff, particularly town agents, and two councillors.
The accused allegedly included their names and names of their relatives among the beneficiaries despite not being on the official list of eligible beneficiaries.
According to Peter Banya, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner in charge of Laroo-Pece Division, money received by the suspects is more than UGX400M.
The latest development in Gulu city follows the recent arrest of 45 civil servants and local councilors in Kole district for allegedly misappropriating the funds.
The restocking programme is intended to support vulnerable households through a UGX 5 million cash grant, equivalent to the value of five cows.
The programme targets communities in the Acholi, Lango and Teso sub-regions.
According to guidelines, priority beneficiaries include older persons, former abductees, female-headed households, unemployed youth, persons with disabilities, widows and widowers.
