The Paramount Chief of Acholi, Rwot David Onen Achana II, on Tuesday officially launched the first-ever Gulu City Oktoberfest, marking a new chapter in cultural celebration and economic development in Northern Uganda.

In his remarks, Rwot David Onen Achana II expressed deep gratitude to the organizers for choosing Gulu City as the host of this international festival stating that the Oktoberfest is providing a great opportunity for the Acholi people to showcase their rich traditions, hospitality, and unity to the rest of the world.

Rwot Achana said the festival is not just about celebration; it is about connection, which will bring together people from different backgrounds to share culture, build friendships, and open doors to economic opportunities.

The launch was a vibrant cultural extravaganza, featuring traditional dances from Acholi, Buganda, Busoga, Lango, Madi, Alur and other regions across Uganda, a true reflection of the country’s cultural diversity and unity.

Rwot Achana also encouraged local residents and businesses to embrace the Oktoberfest as a chance to earn income through tourism, trade, and cultural entertainment noting that such events not only strengthen community ties but also contribute significantly to economic growth and cultural understanding.

The Gulu City Oktoberfest will run through the week till October 14th , featuring music performances, traditional cuisines, and exhibitions celebrating Acholi culture and community spirit.
