West Nile Asks Museveni to Address Uganda-South Sudan Border Dispute

Agency

The leaders from Moyo District have appealed to President Yoweri Museveni to find a lasting solution to address insecurity along the Uganda-South Sudan.

They say the clashes with the South Sudanese army have caused losses of properties and lives of people.

This call was made by Moyo District Chairperson, Williams Anyama, on behalf of the district leaders, which was presented during a campaign rally in the district for the president, also the presidential candidate of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

The leaders cited recent attacks by the South Sudanese army in Yumbe District, several other raids in Moyo and other border districts in the north.

The President was also reminded of the promise made in 2016 to end the border between the governments of Uganda and South Sudan, which has taken a long time without being fully addressed to a conclusion, though representatives had engagements.

In an engagement with journalists at the presidential lodge in Arua City, the president said that he engaged President Salva Kiir of South Sudan to address the concerns over the protracted border dispute.

President Museveni informed that after an inquiry, he will get back with the latest information, and he will update the country on the steps taken to jointly get a lasting solution for the border dispute.
