The Democratic Party “DP” President general Norbert Mao who doubles as the Minster for Justice and Constitutional affairs has been nominated under the DP party ticket to contest for Laroo-Pece parliamentary seat ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Mao is expected face off with the incumbent Pece-Laroo Division Legislator Rev Fr Charles Onen, who is seeking a second term on an independent ticket (NRM leaning).
Other notable contestants are National Unity Platform (NUP) Caesar Lubangakene and NRM’s Tony Kitara.
Meanwhile In Bardege-Layibi city division also in Gulu city, the incumbent Ojara Martin Mapenduzi has been nominated under the NRM party ticket.
While the former Member of Parliament for Gulu Municipality, Lyandro Komakech has also been nominated under the DP party ticket.
For Gulu city Woman Member of Parliament, Alima Joyce Reeni has been nominated under NRM party ticket, Aneno Peace Alice Oroma nominated under FDC party ticket alongside Topacho Judith Obina Okumu on Independent ticket.
In Amuru district, incumbent Woman Member of Parliament Lucky Akello has been nominated under FDC party ticket alongside four other Independent candidates including; Stella Laker Nyapaco, Florence Aryemo, Angeyo Lucy.
In Kilak South, the incumbent Olanya Gilbert has been nominated under FDC party ticket.
In Kilak North, two candidates nominated including incumbent Anthony Akol under NRM party ticket and Kenneth Okot under Independent ticket.
In Gulu district, the incumbent Aswa County MP, Simon Peter Wokorach has been nominated under the NRM party ticket alongside Olwa Johnson Agara on Independent ticket.
For Gulu district Woman Member of Parliament, Ayoo Phoebe Obal has been nominated under the NRM party ticket.
In Nwoya East incumbent Okello Charles Geoffrey has been nominated under DP party ticket, Akena Patrick Candano under Independent ticket, Ojok Nelson Oyet Independent,
while in Nwoya County, incumbent Tonny Awany under NRM party tick, Oola Samuel under FDC party ticket, and Opiyo Denis Geoffrey under DP party ticket have both been nominated.
For Nwoya Woman Member of Parliament four candidates have been nominated including, incumbent Judith Peace Acan under Independent ticket, Laker Rosemary under DP party ticket, Apili Joyce Cinderella Acellam under UPC party ticket, Laker Vicky Independent, Lanyero Christine Awany under NRM party ticket.
