Police in Pader district are investigating circumstances under which a toddler was crushed to death under a vehicle in Pajule Town Council.
The deceased identified as Kakanyero Harris, aged one year and two months, was crushed to death on Tuesday evening at around 4pm by motor vehicle Reg. No UBB382W Mitsubishi Fuso which was being driven by Kakaire Musa (31).
The child had crawled under the rear tyres of the vehicle, which had earlier on parked to offload some passengers who were from Lira, when he crushed to death.
Joe Oloya, the Acting Aswa East police spokesperson, confirmed the incident saying the deceased body was taken to Pajule Health Centre IV for postmortem.
This is not the first time such incident is happening in Pader district.
In 2024, a one-and-a-half-year-old baby was run over by a car in Lawai Zone B, Pader Town Council, Pader district.
Reports indicate that the driver had parked near his home to change into sportswear for football training at Paipir Playground.
Upon returning, he allegedly drove off without noticing the child had crawled under the car registration number UBP 193A, crushing her to death.
