President Museveni has thanked the people of Acholi Sub region for voting him in the just concluded general elections held in January 2026.
In the general elections the president Museveni banked 71% of the votes while the he secured 84.6% victory from Acholi Sub region.
Speaking at the commemoration of the St Janani Loum day in Wii-Weng Village, Mucwini Sub County, Kitgum District Museveni lauded Acholi for trusting him with their votes saying the NRM government will now focus on lifting the region out of poverty.
On security, Museveni assured residents of Acholi of decisive action against renewed cattle raids linked to Karamojong rustlers, pledging strengthened security interventions in Kitgum and surrounding districts.
The President further fulfilled earlier commitments, including a Shs 60 million contribution to Mucwini Church of Uganda and directed the delivery of two trucks to support local socio-economic activities.
East Acholi sub Region have been grappling with rampant cattle theft and violent incidents that have led to killing of over 50 local farmers and security personnel in the hands of suspected armed Karamojong warriors.
