Muslims across Uganda on Friday morning gathered at mosques and open prayer grounds to mark Eid al-Fitr, signalling the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Eid al-Fitr is one of the most significant celebrations in Islam, symbolising spiritual renewal, forgiveness, and a sense of community.
The day is expected to continue with family visits, feasting, and acts of goodwill, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness that defines the festival.
In Gulu city the Deputy Khadi of Acholi, Sheikh Badi A. Farat, has applauded Muslims in Gulu City and across the world for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment throughout the holy month of Ramadan, as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
Speaking during the celebrations held at Gulu Public Primary School where thousands of faithful gathered in prayer and thanksgiving to mark the end of the fasting period Sheikh Badi also extended appreciation to both Muslims and non-Muslims who generously supported those in need during Ramadan and reminded believers that although Ramadan has ended, worship of Allah continues throughout the year and said the Muslims should remain steadfast in faith and devotion beyond the holy month.
Quoting historical Islamic teachings, he emphasized that while prophets passed on, Allah remains eternal, calling on believers to hold firmly to their faith and continue performing good deeds as preparation for the life after death.
