Kitara FC has successfully defended the Uganda Cup title after defeating fellow contenders SC Villa 2-1 in the final.
The victory crowns Kitara FC champions of the 52nd edition of the Uganda Cup, the country’s oldest football competition.
The two sides faced off in this year’s final at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Saturday.
Kitara won their maiden Uganda Cup title last season after edging NEC FC 1-0 in a closely contested final.
The Hoima-based side now cement their place among the country’s cup specialists in a competition that has been running since 1971.
Last year’s 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup was won by Vipers SC. Vipers clinched the trophy by defeating KCCA FC 2-0 in the final last year
