Former She Corporate FC captain Cissy Nantongo

Uganda women’s football is in mourning following the death of former She Corporate FC captain and national team star Cissy Nantongo.

She Corporate FC also known as The Sharks is a prominent Ugandan women’s football club based in Jinja, competing in the FUFA Women Super League. The team has been a major force in Ugandan football, winning the 2021/22 league title and the 2023/24 FUFA Women’s Cup.

Nantongo, former captain of the Corporate team passed away on the evening of Wednesday, June 3, 2026, after a battle with cancer at Mulago Hospital in Kampala.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations, FUFA has extended condolences to She Corporate FC management, players, family and friends, calling Nantongo a champion of the game.

The midfielder leaves behind a rich trophy collection. She won the FUFA Women’s Cup in 2017 with Olila High School and again in 2023/24 with She Corporate. She also lifted the FUFA Women Super League title in 2021/22 and helped She Corporate earn promotion by winning the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women’s Elite League in 2023/24.

Internationally, she won a silver medal with She Corporate at the 2022 CAF CECAFA Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers.

According to FUFA, Nantongo will be remembered for her leadership on and off the pitch and her contribution to the growth of women’s football in Uganda
