The Federation of Uganda Football Associations, FUFA, with support from Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, has secured scholarships for 30 Ugandan women coaches to undertake the CAF C Coaching Course.
The residential training officially began on August 17th, at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
The programme is aimed at increasing the number of qualified female coaches and strengthening the pathway for women to take up technical roles in football.
The participants include women coaches as well as former and current players seeking to transition into coaching.
They are undergoing both theoretical and practical training to improve their technical knowledge, coaching skills and understanding of modern football.
FUFA confirms the FIFA scholarships are part of a wider investment in women’s coach education, with a total of 39 Ugandan female coaches enrolled for different coaching levels through FUFA programmes.
Apart from the 30 women undertaking the CAF C course, four Ugandan women coaches are pursuing the CAF B qualification, while five others are enrolled for the CAF A Coaching Diploma.
FUFA says the initiative is expected to create a growing pool of qualified female coaches who can take up technical and leadership roles in women’s football, youth development, academies and national teams.
