Silver and Gold medalists from the Northern Uganda Novices Boxing Championship have qualified for the National Intermediates Championship.
The Northern Uganda Boxing Novices 2026 Championship ended on Tuesday at the Gulu Community Park in Gulu City, bringing together junior, youth and elite boxers from across Northern Uganda under in the event organized by the Uganda Boxing Federation, UBF.
Chairperson of the Northern Uganda Boxing Association, Denis Mulindra, while speaking to Mega FM said only finalists who won Silver and Gold medals have qualified for the National Intermediates.
In the Juniors category, Unique Boxing club and Nwoya Boxing Club topped the standings with 6 points each, followed by Arua boxing and Katrini boxing club with 5 points each, while Alebtong boxing club scored 4 points.
In the Youth category, Alebtong led with 7 points, followed by Arua with 6 points, while Lango boxing club and Northern Uganda Boxing Association, NUBA also competed in the category.
In the Elite category, TAKS Boxing Club topped the standings with 15 points, followed by Opeta boxing club with 13 points. NUBA and Lango boxing club each scored 12 points, Nwoya had 11 points, while Lira City boxing club finished with 7 points.
Mulindra added that finalists who want to gain more experience can also participate in the National Novices Championship, although this is optional and applies only to boxers who won Silver or Gold medals.
