Seven male juveniles are among 21 suspects arrested by police in Acolibur Sub-County, Pader District, in an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected criminal activities.
The operation, conducted in Lebit and Lukoko villages in Genonyot Parish, on Thursday also resulted in the arrest of four women and ten adult men.
Police say the crackdown followed intelligence reports concerning suspected involvement in gambling, drug abuse and defilement cases.
During the operation, officers recovered suspected opium, playing cards and used condoms, among other items, which have been retained as exhibits to support investigations.
North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson Superintendent Patrick Jimmy Okema, who is also Acting Public Relations Officer for Aswa West and Aswa East regions confirmed the arrest saying all the suspects are being held at Acolibur Sub-County Police Station as police conduct screening.
Okema said police will record statements and prepare case files for submission to the Resident State Attorney for review and legal guidance.
He said police will continue conducting intelligence-led operations across Pader District and the wider region, urging community members to share information that could help prevent crime and support investigations.
