The Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, Dr. Tanga Odoi, has issued a stern warning ahead of tomorrow’s parliamentary primaries, saying the Commission is fully prepared and will not tolerate violence, fraud, or political interference.

Uganda’s ruling party, in power for nearly 40 years, will hold internal elections starting 10:00 AM on Thursday to select District Woman MP and Direct Constituency MP flag bearers who will later face candidates from other political parties in the 2026 general elections.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Dr. Odoi confirmed that all logistics and election materials had been dispatched to nearly all districts.

He said the Commission had delivered voter registers, declaration forms, training manuals, and guidelines, and preparations were complete.

Dr. Odoi emphasized that only district election officers and registrars are authorized to declare results.

Voting will be done using the lined-up system, where voters gather in village barazas and line up behind their candidate’s portrait.

He directed that counting be done immediately after lining up and announced at the village level before moving to the next group. Dr. Odoi urged voters to take the election seriously and arrive on time, warning that latecomers would be excluded from the process, which starts with verifying eligible voters at village meetings.
