Ker Kwaro Acholi, the Acholi cultural institution in partnership with Operation Wealth Creation, the National Forestry Authority, Uganda National Oil Company, and Kijani Forestry, has launched a major tree planting project aimed at raising awareness on environmental conservation and promote a sustainable future through tree planting.
The initiative, held under the theme “Green Today, Alive Tomorrow,” has already taken root with about 5,000 trees planted on a 5-acre piece of land located in Patuda Village, Paicho Sub-county, Gulu District.
To support the cause, the National Forestry Authority donated 1,000 tree seedlings during the launch.
His Royal Highness, the Paramount Chief Rwot David Onen Acana II, described the launch as a long-held dream finally coming true.
He said trees are vital in safeguarding the environment and restoring green cover, echoing the project’s theme “Green Today, Alive Tomorrow.”
The Paramount Chief further announced plans to extend the campaign to chiefdoms, institutions, and schools across the Acholi sub-region, expressing optimism that this initiative will leave a lasting positive impact on both the environment and the community.
The partnership between Ker Kwaro Acholi and its allies marks a strong step toward sustainable development and environmental protection in the region.
